James Walsh (1967-2011)

It is with profound sadness that we inform you that James Walsh died suddenly on April 20, while on a business trip in Linyi, China. He was born in New York City on January 26, 1967, the son of Jerome K. Walsh and former Cynthia Hamlin. He was educated at St. Bernard's School, Philips Exeter Academy, Duke University (B.A.) and the University of Washington (M.B.A.) A founder and Managing Partner of Sinova Capital, LLC, a merchant bank focusing on the "clean technology" sector, he was deeply passionate about the environment. At the time of his death, he was in the final stages of closing a fund dedicated to converting waste to energy in China. He is survived by his wife, Colette Dumont, daughters Ella Claire and Audrey, son Henri, his parents, sisters Lawler W. Parker and Katherine W. Fernie, three nieces and a nephew.

James was a great inspiration to so many people both personally and professionally. As a founder of Sinova, he dedicated his career in pursuit of positive environmental impacts in the business community. He was passionate, creative, innovative and and unwavering in his resolve to make a difference. He will be sorely missed by all of those around him and we will continue his vision, working as tirelessly as he did, to create a legacy that he and his family can be proud of.

Due to the many requests from James' friends and colleagues to assist his family during these difficult times we have set up a trust fund for benefit of Ella Clare, Audrey and Henri's college education. A Memorial Service will be held for James H. Walsh on Saturday June 11, 2011 on Martha's Vineyard.
